ABOUT M.E ART GALLERY
Beyond Borders, Through Art.
M.E Art Gallery Amsterdam connects distinctive artistic voices with an international audience.
Our story
Art without geographical boundaries.
M.E Art Gallery Amsterdam is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to presenting distinctive artistic voices from across cultures, regions and perspectives. The name “M.E” stands for Middle East, reflecting the gallery’s strong connection to and focus on artists from the region.
With a particular focus on artists from the Middle East, especially the Levant and the Gulf, as well as Africa and other underrepresented regions, the gallery brings together practices shaped by diverse histories, identities and contemporary experiences.
Our Vision
To create an international platform where compelling artistic voices can be discovered, experienced and connected with new audiences.
Our Mission
To support artists through thoughtful representation, exhibitions, collaborations and international art fairs while encouraging cultural exchange and meaningful engagement with contemporary art.
Art has the power to move beyond borders, open dialogue and create new ways of seeing the world.
My Approach
We believe in building long-term relationships with artists and presenting their work within a thoughtful curatorial context.
Rather than simply showcasing individual artworks, we aim to share the ideas, stories and perspectives that shape each artistic practice.
Discovery, dialogue and cultural exchange are central to the way we work.
Founder
Gerard Blijenberg
Gerard Blijenberg founded M.E Art Gallery Amsterdam with a vision to create a platform for artistic voices that deserve greater international visibility.
His approach is rooted in curiosity, cultural exchange and a strong personal connection with artists and their practices.
With a particular interest in artists from the Middle East, the Gulf, Africa and other underrepresented regions, Gerard has shaped the gallery around discovery, dialogue and long-term relationships.
For him, M.E Art Gallery is not only a place to present art, but a space where stories, cultures and perspectives can meet beyond borders.
